NHL Maple Leafs Chat With Howard Berger December 8th
Nothing But Leafs LIVE!
- will the leafs ever consider trading Phil Kessel? Howard
- What do you think they could get for Kessel?
- Howard. Do you think the Leafs management/Coaching staff should take the "A" of either Komi or Beauch, and put it on either Schenn or Armstrong?
- Why? Don't you feel Komisarek and Beauchemin are giving proper effort on the ice?
- Hi Howard, always love listening and reading your Leaf comments. Do we have any realistic hope in getting B Richards now or come July?
- Not now. July? Depends on who else is out there (and I'm not convinced Richards will be). If he's the lone mega-name, he'll command a Kovalchuk-type deal, and Brian Burke has sworn off those many times.
- Howard, who is your favourite Berg ? Bill or Aki ?
- Cheese
- Hi Howard.. Enjoying your work this year, as always.. Could you please dispell some of these media & fan myths that the Leafs are and have been much different than most teams when it comes to not beating teams they should beat, going on losing streaks, having star players tgat don't perform, etc... It drives me crazy listening to the FAN and other radio phone in shows that imply these things are Leaf fads only..
- Try listening to "Islanders Radio" one day.
- Not Beauch. He doesnt lead by exmaple and seems pretty quiet . A guy like Armstrong brings leadership upfront, and is a greater voice in the room
(so ive heard) - Armstrong is a cut-up in the room... a riot! And Beauchemin has the total respect of his teammates on and off the ice. That, I can guarntee you.
- hi howard,
- You really logged on here, Nick, just to say hello? Well, then, "tally hoe" to you too.
- i hope that leafs makes the playoffs
- You aren't a betting ma (woman?), are you? If so, lose your wallet someplace. Fast!
- Hey do you thknk the Leafs should trade Karb to Pitts for Jordan Stall?
- Who's Karb?
- Can you actually see Wilson sitting down Komi when Dion returns or will he stick with sitting a more deserving Gunnar or Aulie?
- Pretty tough to sit down that salary, isn't it? Funny, I don't think Komisarek is playing as poorly as others do.
- Howard, your blog today was pretty long and well written, how long does it usually take you to write a piece like that?
- This was actually a medium-length blog. Time varies. Depends on how tired I am and how the words and ideas are flowing. I started writing this blog yesterday morning, then had to tend to some technical issues with my Blackberry. So, I finished at night.
- Will Burke ever admit he screwed this team up ???
- How did Brian do that?
- Your take on tonight's game ?
- Scary for Leafs if they don't play better than through 50 minutes in Washington. Chance for an upset if they have energy and committment of Boston game Saturday.
- why is toronto so inconsistent?
- Disagree. I think the Leafs are terribly consistent most nights, and not in a good way. Once in awhile, they get things ging offensively. But, I believe they'll fall back into their goal struggle.
- I played high level hockey. I think Dions stick is too short thats why he can't keep the puck down on one timers?
- He should try Schenn's model. Luke could stickhandle from the dressing room with that weapon.
- ok better question in your opinion why do they struggle?
- I think you know the answer to that. Not enough skill and desire up front. Forwards tend to go cold as a group for long stretches. Best scorer, Kessel, seems easily frustrated and discouraged.
- Howard - do you think there is any chance that Giggy gets traded at some point? I think Gus is ready to take over!
- If Giguere chooses to waive his no-trade clause, he could be a decent candidate at the deadline. Remember, though, his son requires specialized treatment for a medical issue. That's why Burke gave Giggy the NTC in Anaheim. I'm not sure Giguere would waive it again, but who knows?
- Hi Howard, Have always enjoyed listening to and reading your reports. Really respect Brian Burke, but do find it frustrating when he shows his stubborn streak. Life is all about adapting to change. If there is potential to obtain usable assets for Tomas Kaberle, why not ask him to waive his no trade clause. Based on recent interviews, Tomas does not seem as determined to stay in TO as he might have been in the past. Do you think either Brian or Tomas will initiate the possibility of a trade?
- I think Rick Curran and Bobby Orr, Kaberle's agents, are the prime movers in this circumstance. If they see an opportunity for Kaberle to sign an extension with a better club before July 1st, they will almost certainly advise him to waive his NTC for a deal at the deadline... providing Burke has something viable.
- Howard, whats your favorite gum to chew?
- The chewable type.
- In the game against Edmonton Gustavsson was replaced J.S. Now J.S. is out with the same groin as he was just returning from. Don't you think Wilson was wrong in putting him in cold when returning from such an injury?
- Giguere is ready to go tonight in Pittsburgh. James Reimer has been returned to the Marlies.
- Howard, I would like to see you move involved in Twitter battles with the Bruce Arthurs, Greg Bradys or any of the PPP guys, any chance?
- Thanks, but not interested.
- Howie, can I call you Howie? You never seem to reply to my question?
- What's your question, among the 8,000 or so I'm looking at right now?
- Howard, how do I get your job?
