Sportsnet Radio THE FAN 590 Live Chat
MLB Tigers at Jays March 5th
Miked Up LIVE
- Alright folks, the game is underway in Dunedin, Florida and we're ready to talk baseball!
- Is there a "Blue Jays Radio Network" station that can be heard in the GTA?
- @R300, you can try 570AM in Kitchener but the signal quality might not be the greatest
- MLB at bat app for my blackberry works great for radio listenin... missed the voices of jerry and alan
- Hey everybody! Welcome aboard and thanks to Gord for starting things up! Drabek looked awfully good after the first two hitters! Nice start for the spring for him. Now Travis Snider is stepping in for his first AB of the spring.
- Sorry folks, website erroneously said that the game can be heard on the web site...possible alternatives in Ontario are 820Am in Hamilton, 570AM in Kitchener, 1290Am in London, CIWW in Ottawa...just to name a few
- MLB App is AWESOME totally worth the $15
- from whats been seen of drabek so far, does he look like he has the early inside track on the number 4 or 5 spot?
- Hi Mike, are you down there for the whole month of March?
- Drabek is ready for the big leagues, but service time issues might see him start in the minors.
- @Gord Brunt Many of those stations ARE NOT carrying the game
- Mike, what exactly is the "Blue Jays Radio Network"? It seems it isn't the same as the "Fan Radio network" of old...
- How long would Drabek need to stay down in order for him not to qualify as a Super Two
- It's the same, AndyMc, just nomenclature change. Avi, he'd need to stay down until the all-star break to avoid being a Super 2 after the 2013 season.
- The reason why the game isn't being carried on the station today is because of the early start time for the Raptors game from London...Jays game would still be on when the Raps get started
- Wow, Snider was running on the play and advanced on the grounder?????? Thank you John Farrell, real baseball is back!
- yeah but no reason it cant be streamed on website
- No reason except for mlb rules
- @Brian, Blue Jays games are never streamed on our web site (MLB copyright issues).
- how is the outfield shaping up? With Snider, Patterson, Davis, Podsednik, Rivera... who's the odd man out?
- ok thanks for info..i have MLB App just havent updated it...sorry but this raining cold day im loving idea of hearing Jerry N Alan
- Was Drabek scheduled to just go two innings, Mike?
- There are two spots to be had between Podsednik, Patterson and Mike McCoy, it seems. Yes, Drabek was scheduled for just two innings.
- Super Two status is not a set point in time...depends on service time that other players accumulate since the top 17% of players with >2 but <3 become Super Two. Historically, I think June is usually when most teams bring guys up to avid Super Two status
- Mike I know it is tough to tell who is ready n whos not until about the last week of spring training but is any one looking really dialed in or any one u maybe r concerned abt?
- Nope
- Impressive Mike, tweeting play-by-play, responding to tweet questions, and doing the live blog... quite the multitasker
- Mike, isn't it time to start worrying about Hill, considering he starts so slow anyway? He probably won't find his stroke until June, if he ever does (2010).
- If healthy and the chance to play everyday I Believe Snider is going to have a monster year
- As Mike just said, it's way too early to worry about anyone, @andymc9293
- Any players on the Canadian junior team who you'd be excited about the jays drafting?
- Can Patterson be resurrected ? He was #1 or top pick from Cubs right ? havent read much if he is impressing or not
- @Gord Brunt I disagree.
- Does Reyes seem to be ahead of Purcey at this point?
- Mike......can you send us some dry weather? Anyone else tired of building an ark and gathering animals in pairs?
- @chris m. I'll take it over the snow any day.
- Hill is a notoriously slow starter, who struggles to find his stroke every, single, season. If he starts late in Spring Training, logic would dictate that the "arrival" of his stroke will be later in the season.
- I have no problem if Hill "struggles to find his stroke" and hits .286/.330/.499 with 36 HR like he did in 2009.
- Time for me to get down into the clubhouse and talk to Kyle Drabek! Enjoy Gord Brunt for a while!
- Mike, every single player states that he is working on his timing right now. Hill can't do so. I am not concerned with the lack of hits so far by the others, and I understand the fact that ST means very little (especially early on). Don't misconstrue my point.
- @Michoel He didn't miss 2-3 weeks of ST in 2009.
- Hill will be just fine. It's such a minor injury(if you can even call it that) its not even worth talking about. I see him somewhere around 25-30HR with a .275 average. would be very happy with that
- @andrew, totally agree. Heard Mike's interview with Hill yesterday and there was no concern, whatsoever, in his voice. Said he could have played but opted not to just until he's 100%.
- I wonder if Hill could take a page out of Eric Thames workout regiment. Both Muscular guys who at one time or the other had trouble with muscle injuries. Thames now uses a yoga based exercise program, and is injury free.
- @andymc9293 His career OPS in March/April is higher than his overall line. There's nothing to suggest he's a slow starter.
